Cheap generics

Pay the least for generic drugs

Most generics are cheap, but the same pill can cost a few dollars at one place and many times more at another. Here’s how to find the low price in two minutes.

The 2-minute price check

  1. Look it up on TrumpRx.govThe federal site lists 749 generics with partner prices from Cost Plus Drugs, Amazon Pharmacy and GoodRx (as of October 1, 2026). Search the full list below.
  2. Check Cost Plus DrugsCost Plus Drugs sells many generics by mail at a published markup.
  3. Ask your pharmacy for two pricesYour insurance copay, and the cash price with a free discount card. Pick the lower one.

What makes a generic cost more

  • Extended-release or special forms. Some ER, dissolving or combination versions cost far more than the regular pill. Ask your doctor whether the regular version works for you.
  • Combination pills. Two drugs in one pill can cost more than the two separate generics.
  • A copay higher than the cash price. It happens. Ask the pharmacist to check both. Cash usually won’t count toward your deductible.
  • Small fills. A 90-day supply often costs less per pill once your dose is stable.
